Ingredients: 1 lb. soft butter 2 cups dark brown sugar 1 1/2 cups white sugar 2 tbsp. vanilla 3 eggs - Beat 3 to 4 minutes In separate bowl, sift together: 6 cups flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. soda 4 cups chocolate chips (2- 12 oz. packages) 2 cups nuts.

Directions:Preheat oven to 350 degrees - makes 5 dozen. Mix by hand. Cream together : 1 lb. soft butter; 2 cups dark brown sugar Then add: 1 1/2 cups white sugar Beat in: 2 tbsp. vanilla Add: 3 eggs - Beat 3 to 4 minutes In separate bowl, sift together: 6 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 1 1/2 tsp soda Add to other mixture and beat well. Stir in: 4 cups chocolate chips (2- 12 oz. packages) and 2 cups nuts. Use ice cream scoop and spoon onto greased cookie sheets (make it easy by lining the cookie sheet with baking parchment paper) Bake 8 to 10 minutes (they won't look done!) Let cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet, then remove and let cool. |

When I first came to Hope Chapel, our young adults group, Vision, was having a bake sale to raise money to go on a retreat. Even though Melanie didn't have a son or daughter in our group, she still baked these cookies and brought them to our bake sale. Her generousity and thoughtfulness has been an inspiration to me and the young adults who know her. (Laurie Walz)
