1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick cooking oats
1/2 c. butter or margarine (1 stick)
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Topping:
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/2 stick butter or margarine (1/4 c.), melted
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. flaked sweet coconut

Directions:

Cake:
Pour water over oats; let stand 20 minutes. Cream butter and sugars; add eggs and vanilla and beat well. In a separate bowl mix together the flour and soda, then add to the wet ingredients. Pour into a 9x13 cake pan. Bake at 375º for 35 minutes.

Topping:
Mix all the ingredients together; pour over hot cake. Brown under broiler for a few minutes.
