2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. Crisco
5-7 T. ice water

Filling:
5-7 tart apples (Jonathan, Macintosh, Rome Beauty, WineSap)
1 c. sugar
2 T. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
dash of salt
2 T. butter

Directions:
CRUST - Sift together flour and salt. Cut in Crisco with pastry blender or fork till pieces are size of small peas. Sprinkle 1 T. of ice water over part of mixture. Make 1 ball. Sprinkle next T. of water over dry part. (Add water T. at a time until desired consistency.) Mix lightly. Repeat till all moistened. Form into 2nd ball. Roll out 1st ball using wax paper or lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/8". Place in pie plate. Pour in apple filling.
FILLING - Peel apples and slice thin. Combine spices, salt, sugar, flour, and mix well with apples. Pour into lower layer of crust. Dot with butter, place top crust and vent.
Bake at 400º for 10 minutes and lower to 350º for 40 minutes.
