1 cup raisins
1 cup currants
1 cup black tea
1 cup brown sugar

2 cups flour
1 beaten egg
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix raisins, currants, black tea and brown sugar in a bowl and let sand in refrigerator overnight

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

The next day, add flour mixture to raisin mixture. Stir in beaten egg.

Pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350º for 90 minutes

5 minutes before its done, brush top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Barmbrack is a traditional Irish fruitcake which is also known as Irish Tea Cake depending on the time of year that you're eating it! This is a recipe from my Great Great Grandmother on my mother's side. My Great Great Aunt Eileen gave it to Nannie with her wedding shower gift, an Irish tablecloth with shamrocks on it, from Ireland
