1/2 small onion -minced
2 T garlic - minced
1 t. salt
2 T. butter
1/4 c. dark Karo syrup
3 T. brown sugar
1/4 c. apple cider vinegar
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/4 t. hot red pepper flakes
1 c. ketchup

Directions:

Mince the garlic with the tsp. salt. Mince the onion. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add the minced garlic and onion and sauté for about 3 minuets Add the red pepper flakes and sauté another minute. Add all the rest of the ingredients. Bring just to a boil, then turn down the heat and simmer for approximately 20 minuets until mixture starts to thicken. Adjust to taste if you prefer it hot add more pepper flakes, sweet add more brown sugar just a tsp. at a time. Allow to cool to room temperature , then refrigerate.

If you don't have the Karo syrup, add another 1/4 c. of brown sugar. Better made a day ahead. Use on chicken or pork chops.
