Granny's Kentucky Fruitcake

(You won't get a complaint about this one)
1/2 c. butter
1 c light brown sugar
2 eggs
1c. chopped dates
1 1/2 c. apple sauce
1 c. seedless raisins
1 c. broken black walnuts
2 c. flour
2 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
12 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. figs
1 c. cherries



Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar well, add the spices, raisins and nuts to the flour. Stir the soda into the applesauce. Combine all the ingredients and turn into a greased and floured tube pan. Pre-heat oven to 325 and bake in a slow oven for 1 hour. For a taller cake double the recipe pour into the pan and bake 2 hours.
