Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3 eggs - beaten
3 tablespoons shortening (solid)
3 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 1/2 cups flour
1 finely grated lemon rind

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together.
Dough should be workable but not too dry.
Take a baseball sized piece of dough and on a lightly floured surface, roll it into a 1/4 inch thick string (looks like a fat worm).
Cut into marble sized pieces and deep fry to a golden brown.
Repeat this process until all the dough is used.
(keep dough covered so it does not dry out).
Place fried pieces onto paper towels, toss into a glass bowl.

COATING:
When all the dough is fried, pour honey (enough to coat all) over the top and gently mix with a wooden spoon.
Before serving, dust with powdered sugar.
I always add cinnamon and sometimes pecan pieces.
