2 pkg. yeast
2 1/2 cups warm water
6 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup salad oil
4 eggs
8 2/3 cups flour (approx)
1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tsp. cold water
4 tsp. poppy seeds

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Wait about five minutes, then add sugar, salt, oil, four eggs, and flour, reserving 2 2/3 cups flour to mix in later. Mix with wooden spoon. Gradually knead dough, adding reserved flour until dough is smooth. Place in buttered bowl, turn dough bowl to coat top as well, cover, and place in warm place until tripled, about 1 1/2 hrs. Punch down and then divide into twelve portions. Shape each into rope, about one inch in diameter. Braid three ropes together. Place on well greased 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch loaf pan. Let rise 3/4 hr. till trippled. Brush top with yolk mixture and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake 375 degrees 25-30 minutes. Makes four loaves. Remove to racks to cool.
