1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1/2 tsp baking soda dissolved in 2 tbsp hot water
1/2 cup currants
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts (your choice but I used walnuts)
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter til soft; blend in brown sugar; add eggs & combine well; add dissolved baking soda; add chopped fruit & nuts.
Sift together dry ingredients & add to fruit mixture.
Bake @ 350 º 10 to 12 minutes.

This is one of my favorite cookies! It's a softer version of my mother's
