5 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
2 cups buttermilk
1 egg
1 1/2 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Combine dry ingredients; cut in the butter
Combine buttermilk and egg; add to dry ingredients
Stir by hand until blended (we really use our hands!); mix in raisins

Kneed on floured board until smooth
Divide in half; shape into 2 loaves

Grease big cookie sheet and place both loaves next to each other, but with room between

Cut a "+" into the top of each and sprinkle loaves with flour
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes
