1 cup shortening
1/2 cup. sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour and salt and mix thoroughly. Add pecans. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased sheet for 20 minutes at 325º. Yield - about 4 -5 dozen
Roll in powdered sugar when cooled.

This is one of my families favorites! Also called Russian Tea Cakes. Make them quarter size so you can just pop them in your mouth and not get powdered sugar all over. Grandma Hendricks made these every Christmas. She made them a little bigger, but they were always good. She like the title Russian Tea Cakes better than Pecan Tea Cookies. She thought is was classier.
