Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl mix sugar and shortening well. Add the eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients and mix well. Gradually add the combined dry ingredients to the sugar/shortening mixture, mixing as you go.
Once mixed, divide the dough into 3-4 large balls and wrap them in plastic wrap to keep them from drying out. On a floured surface, roll out one dough ball at a time to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out cookies and bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes, until fluffy.

Decorate with sprinkles prior to baking or making icing using small amounts of milk, powdered sugar, and food coloring until you reach the desired consistency.
