Ingredients: Crust: 2 c. broken pretzels 3/4 c. melted butter 3 tbsp. sugar
Cream Cheese Layer: 8 oz. cream cheese softened 1 c. sugar 8 oz. Cool Whip
Jell-O Layer: 2 small boxes (3 oz. each) strawberry Jell-O 2 c. water 16 oz. tub frozen sliced strawberries in sugar

Directions:Crust: Mix all ingredients and press into greased 9x13 inch glass pan. Bake at 400º for 8 minutes. Let cool completely before adding next layer.
Cream Cheese Layer: With mixer, blend cream cheese and sugar. Fold in Cool Whip with rubber spatula (be sure to scrape sides and bottom and mix in well.) Spread evenly on cooled pretzel crust. Let cool in fridge before adding the next layer.
Jell-O Layer: Boil water and add Jell-O. Stir until dissolved. Add strawberries. Cool completely before pouring on top of cream cheese. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or, for best results, overnight. |

Notes: We have been having this salad at Grandma and Grandpa's (Delbert and Marian's) Thanksgiving for as far back as I can remember. When I was young, Grandma would have all the kids sit on the stairs and eat because our family was getting too big for her old farmhouse. One of my fondest childhood memories is sitting on those stairs with 30 of my cousins all enjoying a home-cooked meal. Grandma's house always smelled so good at Thanksgiving!
