2 c. white raisins
1 c. water
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. walnut flavoring
1 c. chopped black walnutts

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer raisins and water for five minutes. Blend together shortening, sugar and eggs. Add raisin mixture and set aside. Sift together, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
Blend into shortening and raisin mixture. Chill in refrigerator overnight. Drop teaspoons full of cookie mixture onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 º for 8 to 10 minutes. (NEVER BAKE OVER 10 MINUTES, BECAUSE THE COOKIES TEND TO GET HARD.)
