Ingredients: 1/2 C. Shortening..........Cream together well. 3/4 t. Salt 1/2 t. Cinnamon 1/2t. Cloves 1/2 t. Nutmeg 1/2 t. Allspice 2T. Cocoa
1 1/2 C. Sugar..................Add and blend in. 2 eggs, beaten..................Beat in.
1 1/2 t. Soda......................Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with applesauce. 2 C. Sifted flour 1 1/2 applesauce
3/4 C. Dates, chopped..............Dust flour over fruit, and stir in. 3/4 C. Raisins............................(Another 3/4 C. Raisins may be substituted for the dates.) 2 T. Flour
3/4 C. Nut meats, chopped..........Stir in. Bake in 3 greased and floured cake pans. 350 degrees F. 55 to 60 minutes.

Directions:Cream first seven ingredients together well. Then add sugar and eggs blend in. Sift all dry ingredients together and alternately add with applesauce. Dust flour over fruit and stir in. Bake in 3 greased and floured cake pans. 350º F. 55 to 60 minutes. |
