Ingredients: 1 package dry yeast 1/4 cup water (105 to 115 degrees F.) 3/4 cup milk 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup sugar 1 tsp salt 2 eggs, slightly beaten 2 & 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour (about) 5 baking apples (I like McIntosh) 2Tbsp melted butter 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:Sprinkle yeast into water. Let stand a few minutes. Then stir until dissolved. Scald milk; add 1/4 C butter, sugar, and salt, stirring until butter melts. Cool to lukewarm' stir in yeast and eggs. Beat in 1 & 1/2 cups of the flour; cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in bulk, about 40 minutes. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make an easy-to-handle dough. Knead lightly on a floured board. Cover and chill for 30 min. Roll out and fit into a greased baking dish, 9x12x13 inches (or two small square or round ones). Peel and slice apples and press them closely together into dough Brush apples and dough with melted butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Cover and let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. |
