1 cup seedless raisins
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 beaten eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 cup chopped dates, walnuts, vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cloves
2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
6 tbsp. raisin liquid

Cook raisins in boiling water and cover 5 min. Drain, reserving 6 Tbsp. juice. Thoughly cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat until smooth. Sift flour with salt, soda and spices. Mix with oatmeal and add to creamed mixture alternately with raisin liquid. Add dates and nut meats. Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake in moderately hot oven 350º 10-12 min
