2 pkg.active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
2 cups lukewarm milk (scalded then cooled)
7-8 cups flour
1 tbsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. milk
3 tbsp.shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large bowl. Stir in milk, sugar, shortening, salt and 4 cups of the flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead until dough becomes smooth and elastic; about 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double, about 1 hour.

Punch down the dough and divide into halves.

Place dough into greased loaf pans. Brush lightly with butter. Let rise until double, about 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 425º. Place loafs on lower rack. Bake until loaves are deep golden brown and sound hollow when tapped, 25-30 minutes. Immediately remove from pans. brush tops of loaves with butter and cool on a rack.
