2 1/2 C Flour
1/2 tsp. Baking soda
1/2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 C Butter
1 C Sugar
1 Egg
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Set aside.

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.

Add dry ingredients and mix. Refrigerate 9 hours.

Roll out dough and cut with cookie cutters.

Bake for 6-8 minutes. Cook on a rack.

Bake on a cookie sheet.

Dad make thousands of cookies over the Holidays. I believe he and Mom started in October and kept them frozen until Christmas, that is, unless one of us found them first. His cut-out cookies were works of art. He spent hours decorating them.
