1 onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 - 16 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 – 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 – 6 ounce can of tomato paste
½ cup water
1 t basil
2 T parsley
2 t salt
¼ t pepper

Saute onions and garlic in olive oil. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer. Add meatballs, ribs, etc. and simmer.

Dress it up (Bragiole); dress it down (meatballs). Another Winter Sunday dinner. I double this recipe for the family. I used to simmer it for hours, but have found less time makes it fresher. About an hour is enough to cook the meat thoroughly, but not burn the sauce. Of course, tastes best with my fresh canned tomatoes. But not always available.
I remember asking Nana to teach me how to make this when Dad and I were first married. She didn't understand what the big deal was, it came so natural to her.
