2/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup butter or margarine softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 and 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl cream shortening, butter, and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Chill for at least one hour. Drop by 1/4 cup at least 1 and 1/2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375º for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
