1 cup B. sugar
1 cup shortening (Butter)
2 cups oatmeal (Quick)
2 cups flour
½ cup sour milk,
2 scant tsp soda.
1 tsp. vanilla.
1 lb dates
2½ cups B sugar
½ cup water

Directions:

1 cup shortening (Butter)
2 cups oatmeal (Quick)
2 cups flour
Crumb together, add ½ cup sour milk, 2 scant tsp soda. 1 tsp. vanilla.

Refrigerate for a couple hrs. or overnight. Roll thin.

Filling for cookies
1 lb dates
2½ cups B sugar
½ cup water
Cook slowly until thick. Spread between 2 cookies.
