Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 lb seashell macaroni (not the salad macaroni)
1/2 cup butter (must be butter, not margarine)
Ketchup
1 -2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Boil the pasta according to package directions. While the pasta is boiling, brown the butter in a saute pan. (Watch the butter carefully. When it starts to foam up, be watchful for the foam to turn a golden brown. Swirl the pan and when the butter is the color of roasted peanuts, immediately remove from heat.) Set aside.

In a large oven proof bowl, put a layer of cooked pasta, then ketchup, then cheese, then browned butter. Continue with these layers for 3 or 4 layers depending on the depth of your bowl.

Place in oven and bake until hot and bubbly.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Originally known as "Grandma's Macaroni". Grandson, Jim Riccardo couldn't say, "macaroni", so it turned into "Grandma's Cronies".

Another depression era meal, using what people had on hand.
