1 cup raisin
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg -- beaten
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
In a pot, place raisins and water and cook until raisins are soft.
While still hot, add the remaining ingredients.
Spread mixture on cookie sheets or in a 13x9x2 greased pan.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Glaze cookies while still hot.
Glaze is made from a mixture of milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar.
