2-1/2 c flour
1 t baking soda
1 t cream of tartar
1/4 t ground nutmeg
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1-1/2 c confectioners' sugar
1 egg
2 t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and nutmeg; set aside.

Beat butter and sugar in large towl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Graduallystir in flour mixture until well mixed. Refrigerate dough about 1 hour or until firm.

Preheat oven to 375º. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface* to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 mnutes or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 minute. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

*Kitchen tip: Mix 1/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar to use for dusting surface.
