I never heard of cottage cheese in a carton at a store in the early 1930's. We made our own. We would put clabbered sour milk in a large kettle and heat it slowly until curds and whey separated. We then poured it all into a sieve or cloth bag and drained well. I seasoned the cheese with real thick cream and salt to taste. In those days, sugar came in cloth bags. I used one of these to drain my cheese. Of course, we were milking cows and had an abundance of rich milk and cream.
