1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans(toasted)
48 pecan halves (about 2/3 cup)

Beat all ingredients except pecans in a large bowl with electric mixer on med speed until well mixed. Stir in chopped pecans.

Place dough on a 14 inch length of plastic wrap. Use wrap to shape dough into a log, 12 inches long and 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours until firm.

Heat oven to 375 º. Cut dough into 1/4 inch slices with a sharp knife. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press 1 pecan half on each cookie.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool 1 min. remove from cookie sheet to wire rack
