2 C sugar
6 T cocoa
2 t baking soda
1 t salt
2/3 C vegetable oil
2 C water
2 t vanilla
2 T vinegar

Mix all ingredients together, adding vanilla last. Bake at 350º F for 30-35 minutes.

Grandma used to mix this in the cake pan and have it in the oven in just a few minutes. I liked it without frosting, in a bowl with cold milk poured over hot cake. She sometimes made 2 -- one with frosting and one without.
