2 packages yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 cups milk (lukewarm)
5 cups all purpose flour

1/2 sup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup crisco shortening
1/4 teaspoon lemon extract

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar and let stand 10 minutes.
Add 2 1/2 cups flour and 2 tablespoons sugar to warm milk.
Add yeast mixture and let raise about 30 to 45 minutes.
Cream remaining sugar, egg yolks, salt, shortening and extract.
Add to flour mixture with remaining flour and knead well.
Let raise about one hour.
Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut out doughnuts.
Grease tops with melted shortening. Let raise about 45 minutes to one hour and bake in hot grease. 350 degrees until golden brown
Place on paper towels to cool
