1 stick butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 ½ cups boiling water
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
1 cup brown sugar
1 cut white sugar
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda.
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. grated orange peel or 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
¾ cup chopped pecans

Praline Topping:
¾ cup brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter or margarine melted
2 tbsp. heavy cream
¾ cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature. The butter needs to very soft. Boil water and add the oatmeal. Let this stand for 15 minutes.
Grease and flour a 9X13X2 pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Add the softened butter, eggs, white and brown sugar, flour, baking soda and salt to the oatmeal mixture. Beat for two minutes on medium speed of mixer, scraping sides of bowl. Stir in orange peel or the vanilla flavoring and the nuts. Pour in pan and bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
Remove cake from oven and turn heat to broil.
Combine all topping ingredients together and spread praline topping over the cake and broil, about 5 inches from broiler, for 2 minutes.
