1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1-ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Frosting:
1/4 cup soft butter
2 T cocoa
2 tsp. instant coffee
dash salt
3 cups confectioners sugar
3T milk
1 1/2 tsp. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in chocolate. Sift dry ingredients and add to chocolate mixture, alternating with sour cream. Add nuts.
Bake on greased sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool before frosting.

Cream butter with cocoa, instant coffee and salt. Slowly add in 1 cup of confectioners sugar. Add in 2 additional cups of confections sugar, alternating with milk. Add in vanilla and beat in. Frost cookies and keep in airtight container.

Gramma Rose Bourdon found this Mocha Cookie recipe when I was a teenager. I tried making and shipping to my boyfriend and learned that these cookies do NOT keep beyond a few days as they dry out!
