1 box vanilla wafers
3/4 cup sugar
dash salt
2 and 1/2 cups milk
6-8 ripe bananas
1/3 cup all purpose flour
4 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla

4 egg whites
6 Tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Mix sugar, flour and salt together. Beat egg yolks with fork and combine with milk. Add egg/milk mixture to the sugar mixture. Stir well, and cook uncovered, stirring frequently for 10-15 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
In 9x13 pan, layer wafers, bananas, and custard. Repeat if needed.

Preheat oven to 350.
Meringue: Beat egg whites til frothy. Add cream of tartar. Beat until whites stand and fall over when beater is removed. Beat in sugar 1 Tbsp at a time, beat in the vanilla until a stiff peak. Pour over pudding and bake 15 minutes or until meringue is brown.
