1/2 cup soft butter
1/2 cup soft shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
3 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. double-action baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped candied cherries
1/4 cup chopped citron
1 cup shredded coconut
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1 1/2 tsp. lemon or almond extract

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400º.

Mix together thoroughly butter, shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in sour cream. Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir in the cherries, citron, coconut, orange rind and extract.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2-in apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes (or until lightly browned). Makes about 7 to 8 dozen cookies.
