Crust

10 TBS butter, room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt

Coconut Mixture
28 oz sweetened condensed milk
28 oz shredded coconut
1 tsp vanilla extract

Topping

1/4 c butter
5 cups dark chocolate baking chunks
Almonds, if desired

Oven at 350º

You can use a Texas sheetcake pan, or a 13x9 inch pan if you want them to be thicker.

Cream together butter and brown sugar, add in flour and salt. Mix until it resembles small chunky bread crumbs. (You an use a pastry blender for this part, it works well.)

Add mixture to baking pan, spread across botttom and press down into even layer. Bake for 8 minutes.

Combine the condensed milk, coconut and vanilla. Spread over the crust and bake for another 20-25 minutes, or until the coconut is slightly toasted.

Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave, stirring frequently. Pour evenly over cooked coconut bars and spread into an even layer. When cool, refrigerate until hardened.

Cut into squares. If adding almonds, do that now, and press slightly in. You may need to drizzle a little more chocolate over the bars.
