1/2 oz red food coloring
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening (mazola oil)
2 eggs unbeaten
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups plain sifted flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinegar
2 tsp water

Preheat oven to 350º

Make paste of coloring and cocoa with spoon and set aside

Cream sugar and shortening in mixer

Add eggs and beat well

Add vanilla and paste mix.

In a operate bowl add flour and buttermilk, vinegar and soda

Add this mixture while it is foaming

Bake in pan at 350º for 30 minutes

Frost with Cream cheese frosting
