1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup milk
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
Fruit of choice

Sift dry ingredients together. Add egg and milk. The batter should be thick enough to completely coat fruit. Dip each piece in batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Grandma always made these with canned apricots. Fruit must be well drained or the batter won't stick.
