1 tsp caraway seeds

1 Tbsp Wondra flour

1/2 tsp black pepper

4 cups sauerkraut, squeezed dry

1 large onion, ~Lb

1 1/2 Lbs apples

1 Lb bratwurst

1 cup apple cider

2 Tbsp ketchup

Pumpernickel or rye bread

Directions:
Directions:
1. Position the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 400ºF.
2. Combine caraway seeds, Wondra, and black pepper.
3. Spread sauerkraut over the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan ( DO NOT use aluminum pan) and sprinkle with 1/3 of flour mixture.
4. Peel onion; halve it vertically;then slice thin horizontally. Place sliced onion over the sauerkraut and sprinkle with 1/2 of the remaining flour mixture.
5. Peel, core and slice apples then spread them over the onions and sprinkle with remaining flour mixture.
6. Place bratwurst over apples.
7. Mix apple cider with ketchup and pour evenly over all.
8. Cover tightly with foil and roast for 45 minutes, then uncover and roast for 25 minutes more or until bratwurst begin to brown.
9. Serve with pumpernickel or rye bread.
