1 cup Dates, cut in pieces
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup HOT Water

1 cup Sugar
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Egg
1 1/2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla.

Directions:
Directions:
Chop dates and sprinkle with soda. Pour hot water over dates and soda and let sit for 1/2 hr.
Add remaining ingredients and bake in a bread pan. 325º for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
