Cookie Dough
o 2 ¼ cups flour
o ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
o 2 tsp cream of tartar
o 1 tsp baking soda
o ¼ tsp salt
o 1 cup butter at room temp
o 1 ¼ cup sugar
o 2 large eggs

Spicy Sprinkle
o ¼ cup sugar
o 2 tsp cinnamon
o ½ tsp chili powder

• Preheat oven to 400 degrees
• Sift flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt
• In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs and mix well.
• Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture until combined
• Roll about 1 tbsp of dough at a time into balls; roll in spice mixture until coated
• Place balls onto cookie sheet about 2 inches apart
• Bake about 10 minutes rotating sheet halfway through
• The cookies are done when the tops are cracked
• Let them rest on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack
