4 quarts cucumbers [washed & cut up],
1 cup pickling salt,
2 quarts boiling water.
Mix salt & hot water- Pour liquid over cukes and let stand 3 days.
Drain, reheat drained liquid , pour over and let stand 3 days more.
Repeat.
On the 9th day drain & discard liquid and take 1 gallon boiling water
and 1 tablespoon alum. Let stand 6 hours.
Drain & discard liquid
Mix the following in a saucepan
1 quart white vinegar,
1/2 quart water,
4 pounds white sugar,
1 ounce each celery seed, allspice berries and 1 cinnamon stick
Boil and pour over cukes. When cool(overnight) drain & reheat and pour over, 3 times in all.
