1/2 cup shortening (half butter or margarine, softened)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup dairy sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 425º. Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla. Blend in remaining ingredients. Divide dough into 3 parts. Roll each part 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Trace around hand with pastry wheel (or knife). Cut remaining dough. Bake 6 to 8 minutes. Cool. Decorate as desired. About 6 hand cookies and 1 dozen 2 inch cookies.

Chocolate Cookies: To 1 part dough, mix in 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled.

Peanut Butter Cookies: To 1 part dough, mix in 1 tbsp. creamy peanut butter.

Kids love them.
