1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
3 cups flour
Pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Mix sugar, egg, shortening and buttermilk. Add 1 tsp vanilla.
Mix flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mix. Refrigerate overnight.

Roll into the size of a pencil, then shape into a figure 8. Pinch ends. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
