5 cups all purpose flour
1 t. baking soda
1 1/2 teas. salt
1 1/2 teas. cloves
1 1/2 teas. cinnamon
1/2 teas. mace
1/2 c. oil
3 c. brown sugar
8 eggs
2 lbs mixed fruit
1 lb. pecans
1 lb. raisins
1 lb dates
1/2 water
1 cup honey
1/2 c. molasses


Directions:
Directions:
Sift then measure the flour, sift with baking soda, salt, and spices
Cream the butter until light and fluffy
Add sugar gradually beating well after each addition.
Slowly add eggs which has been beaten until almost like whipped cream. add fruit and nuts then water, honey, and molasses. Add dry ingredients beating until smooth after each addition. Turn into paper lined tube pan. Bake at 250º for 3 1/2 hours

This fruitcake has been a family tradition that my mom has made for as long as I can remember. The recipe came from my Great Grandmother Ethel Lilian Crace. What a delicious recipe to have passed on to so many generations.
