Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 tblsp yeast; 1 cup water; pinch sugar; let rise
I use 2 tblsp quick rise instant yeast that you throw in dry and add an extra cup of warm water to milk. So use whichever yeast you prefer.
2 cups milk with 2 tsp vanilla
7 cups flour
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 lb tenderflake lard
Filling
1 1/2 to 2 cups Poppy seed
1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar
2 eggs
Vanilla
A little melted butter to moisten so filling clings together

Directions:
Directions:
Filling
Grind Poppy seed, add sugar, vanilla, eggs and melted butter
Dough
Heat milk; add vanilla; not too hot or you will kill yeast
Rub together flour, sugar, salt and lard.
Add yeast and milk. Knead till you make a nice soft dough.
Let rise; punch down; let rise again (I use instant yeast so I only let rise once and then make buns)
Roll out a circle of dough; cut into 8 wedges; put in filling and roll up; pinch ends.
Place on pans. Let rise; brush with beaten eggs.
Bake 400 degrees till brownish. Can brush with brown sugar and water mixture if you like; but not necessary.
