"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup margarine, room temperature
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup dark brown sugar*
1 cup granulated sugar*
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 T. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour (all purpose)
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups quick cooking oats
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
In large mixing bowl, cream margarine, butter, & sugars together until light & fluffy. Add milk & vanilla, beat until blended.
Sift dry ingredients together; add to butter mixture. Stir just until blended. Stir in the oats. Fold in chocolate chips & walnuts. Refrigerate the dough, covered, for at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 350*. Grease cookie sheets. Shape dough into balls, using a rounded teaspoon for small cookies, a scant tablespoon for large ones. Flatten slightly. Place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake until edges are slightly browned but cookies are still white, 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven & let cool on the sheets for 5 minutes, then remove & place on racks to cool completely.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I do like to reduce the sugar content of this recipe to 2/3 of a cup of each the white & brown sugar. The cookies are still yummy.
