2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
2 packages (6 oz. each) semi-sweet chocolate chip pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, eggs, sugars, and vanilla. Mix together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chip pieces and nuts last.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful 2 inches apart onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown and still soft to the touch. Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet.
