Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup "sour" milk (add a few drops of vinegar to milk)
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup nuts chopped
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all in one bowl, drop by tsp full on cookie sheet. Grandma's recipe didn't include oven temp or length of time. My guess has always been 375 to 400º (depending on your oven) and about 10 minutes.

Personal Notes:
These were my always favorite cookies as a kid. Delicious and the house smelled so good when they were baking!
