Biscuit ring:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 T. gran. Sugar
1 T. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 egg
3/4 cup sour cream

Filling:
1 qt (1 lb tray) strawberries, washed, & hulled
1 T. gran. sugar

Topping:
1 cup whipping cream
1 T. gran. sugar
1 T. brandy (optional)*
2 egg whites
2 T granulated sugar

Directions:
Biscuit ring: In large bowl combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until size of small peas. Beat egg and sour cream together. Add to four mixture; blend, gathering dough into ball. Turn out onto floured surface and knead 15 times until dough is smooth. Roll out to 8-inch circle approximately 3/4-inch thick. Cut 2-inch hole from center of dough, forming a ring. Place on baking sheet and bake at 425*F for 12 minutes.
Filling: Reserve 8 strawberries for garnish. Slice remaining berries and sprinkle with sugar.
Topping: Beat whipping cream with 1 T sugar & brandy (if using) until stiff. Beat egg whites in separate bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add 2 T sugar and bear until stiff. Fold egg whites into whipped cream.
Assembly: Slice biscuit ring in half crosswise. Spoon any syrup from sliced strawberries on bottom of ring. Arrange half of sliced strawberries on bottom of ring and cover with half of whipped cream. Place top of ring over filling. Spoon remaining whipped cream
on top. Garnish with 8 reserved berries. Arrange remaining sliced strawberries around ring.

Enjoy! Serves 8 generously.
