2 cups raisins
1 cup water
1tsp soda
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup nutmeats
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins and water for 5 minutes, add baking soda and let sat and while preparing remaining ingredients
Cream shortening, brown sugar and eggs
Add raisin mixture, nuts and vanilla
Add dry ingredients
Chill in fridge for a couple of hours
Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet
Bake in moderate oven (350º) until done Do not overcook
