1 CUP SHORTENING
2 CUPS SUGAR
3 EGGS
¼ CUP MILK
1 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER
¼ TEASPOON BAKING SODA
½ TEASPOON SALT
4 CUPS FLOUR
1 ½ TEASPOON VANILLA

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs, add milk, and dry ingredients.

Add vanilla. Let dough stand in refrigerator for several hours.

Roll thin. Cut shapes and bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

My family makes these every year at Christmas and we use Christmas cookie cutters like holly leaves, snowman and Christmas bells. My great grandma would decorate with red and green sugar and add red hots to bells and holly leaves. They are super delicious!
